According to UNESCO (2021), "it is necessary that new technologies provide new means to promote, defend and execute human rights, not to violate them, as well as to promote respect for the environment and ecosystems, both living and non-living". Based on the following three documents: 1) Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, by UNESCO, 2) Guide for the Use and Reporting of Artificial Intelligence in Scientific-Academic Journals, and 3) Heredia Declaration: principles on the use of artificial intelligence in scientific publishing, ATMÓSFERA, considers the following criteria for ethical and responsible use to justify the assistance of artificial intelligence (AI) in submitted manuscripts:

AI can be used as a support tool in minor tasks, such as translating, correcting and improving the writing, spelling and structure of a manuscript, rather than in content development. It is also authorized for the citation and structuring of bibliographical references according to the Journal Guidelines.

If an AI program has been used, it will be necessary to specify its model and version, as well as the purpose and section of the manuscript in which it was used. This information must be indicated in the Acknowledgments section.

Generative AI does not replace creativity, decision-making and responsibility of authors, so it cannot be an author or source of information.

It is not allowed to modify figures already published or create new ones from AI programs.

The Journal reserves the right to publish in case any of the points mentioned above are violated.

EXAMPLE OF THE USE OF AI IN THE ACKNOWLEDGMENTS SECTION:

"ChatGPT version2023 was used to format the references according to the Journal’s style"
